Mimi is a zealous explorer, teacher and circus performer. Her specialty and true love belong to aerial silks but she has also performed and choreographed works on aerial rope, lyra, single point trapeze, rope and harness, invented apparatus and will climb just about anything else someone puts in front of her. She credits her yoga practice for her keeping her grounded and injury free while flying through the air.
She has nearly a decade of teaching experience at Hothouse Yoga and National Dance Academy in Iowa City. She founded the aerial silks program at NDA in 2014 and is a pioneer in the Eastern Iowa aerial community. She seeks to foster a warm, non-competitive learning environment that provides the most inclusive instruction to students of all backgrounds and abilities. Her teaching style emphasizes sustainable movement patterns and progression based instruction. She believes that aerial can be accessible to anyone who is willing to play. Mimi is currently on faculty and a company member at Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance in Boulder, Colorado. She is thrilled to share the magic of aerial silks at Fields of Yogis for the third year in a row!
